Black Skimmer
18" long, 3 1/2-foot wingspan
lower bill longer than upper;
Uses bill while in flight to cut through water surface
to catch fish or shrimp
nests in large colonies;
this group- at Dunedin Causeway

 
Why they are called Skimmers:
